Little Joe Hernandez is the leader of Little Joe y La Familia, one of the most popular Tex-Mex bands in the music industry. Described as the “King of the Brown Sound,” Little Joe helped to pioneer Tejano music, a mix of traditional norteño music and country, blues, and rock styles. He has become one of the most prominent figures in the tradition today, with more than 70 albums and five Grammy Awards.

Hernández was recently named one of the 2023 National Heritage Fellows by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). The National Heritage Fellowships are the nation’s highest honor in the folk and traditional arts. Among Little Joe’s other honors is the 2019 Texas State Musician designation by the Texas State Legislature.

Over sixty years and many albums after his start as a musician, Joe continues touring the world, trailblazing, looking forward to new challenges, breaking down cultural and musical barriers, and innovating his musical style. Joe always strives to unite people to make a more peaceful and harmonious world.
