Mosaic is not just broken dishes or tiles, it is an art form that has been around for millennia. Contemporary mosaic art has advanced the medium tremendously in the past 25 years. Current artists create their work using a myriad of materials, styles, and visions. M4Collective is a group of four female mosaic artists who incorporate marble, smalti glass, stained glass, porcelain, beads, minerals, stones, found objects, and many other materials in their art. From sculptural to two-dimensional, abstract to representational, these mosaic artists show what contemporary mosaic is all about.
